VESA Standards
Share
If you’ve recently bought an LCD or LED flat-panel TV or monitor and you’re shopping for a mount, this is a good place to start. (Note: this does not apply to older “rear-projection” or “DLP” TVs.)
Mountable flat panels have threaded holes on the back, laid out in a square or rectangular pattern and sized for metric screws. Matching that hole pattern to your mount is what the VESA standard is all about.

What is a VESA mount?
The Flat Display Mounting Interface (FDMI) — almost always called a “VESA mount” — is the standard for mounting flat-panel monitors and TVs. It’s implemented on most modern flat panels, though not every one.
VESA sub-standards (hole patterns)
- MIS-D 75 — 75 mm × 75 mm
- MIS-D 100 — 100 mm × 100 mm
- MIS-E — 200 mm × 100 mm
-
MIS-F — larger displays, with mounting points at:
- 200 × 200 mm
- 400 × 400 mm
- 600 × 200 mm
- 600 × 400 mm
- 800 × 400 mm
Tip: Check your TV’s manual or measure the hole spacing on the back, then match it to a mount’s supported VESA pattern. Not sure? Call or email us and we’ll help you choose.
