6 1/2 Inch length
Shortest setup this mount offers — the 6-1/2″ is the total drop, measured from the ceiling (or mounting surface) to the back of the TV, not the length of the pipe.
The ceiling plate and tilt head already add about 4-1/2″ of that drop, so this configuration includes just a short 1-1/2″ pipe to finish the connection. Need the screen to hang lower? Pick a longer Total Length above.
No Mast Heads up
This option is not a complete mount - you'll still need a mast or extension to connect the mount to the ceiling plate. Remember the mount + plate already add ~4.5" of drop, so size your pipe accordingly.
Shop masts & extensions →Measure from where the plate mounts on the ceiling down to about the middle of the TV screen. That total is your drop. Each option fine-tunes in 1" increments.

The DD dental operatory TV mount is a commercial-grade ceiling mount with 90 degrees of tilt: it holds the screen horizontal for reclined patient viewing, directly above the dental chair. Choose the ceiling plate that matches your structure (flat, angled, wood joist, or unistrut) and a total drop length in 1-inch increments, so the mount arrives custom configured for your operatory.
Which TV ceiling mount holds the screen horizontal above a dental chair?
The DD dental operatory mount tilts a full 90 degrees, from vertical to fully horizontal, so in a dental office the screen faces straight down at a reclined patient in the chair, held with the screen horizontal to the floor. It holds displays up to 75 lb with a VESA pattern up to 200 x 200 mm, on a total drop length you choose in 1-inch increments, custom configured for your operatory.
- Weight rating 75 lbs.
- VESA mounting patterns up to 200 x 200 mm.
- We rate it up to 39 inch screens, but it will fit any TV that weighs less than the 75 lb weight rating and has a compatible mounting hole pattern.
- Black powdercoat finish
Why place a television above a dental chair?
- Entertainment for a reclined patient: A screen held flat overhead gives the patient something to watch while they lie back through a long procedure, which helps ease anxiety and makes chair time pass more comfortably.
- Chairside patient education: With the screen directly in the patient's sightline, you can show treatment plans, x-rays, or oral-hygiene videos without asking a reclined patient to sit up or turn their head.
- Distraction during treatment: A horizontal screen directly overhead pulls the patient's focus up and away from the sights and sounds of the procedure, which helps lower stress in the operatory.
A standard tilt mount stops well short of horizontal; the DD tilts a full 90 degrees so a reclined patient looks straight up at a flat screen.
Built to order: choose your ceiling plate and total length above. The length option is the total drop from the ceiling to the mount, sized so the screen sits directly in the patient's sightline. Questions about your operatory layout? Call 800-585-8795 or send us a message.

Frequently asked questions
What drop length do I need for my operatory?
Measure from the surface you will attach the mount to, down to where you want the screen to be. The length option is the total drop from ceiling/mounting surface to mount, in 1-inch increments. Not sure? Contact us or call 800-585-8795
Does the shortest drop change with my ceiling type?
Yes. On a solid ceiling, or drywall with structure right behind it, the 6 1/2 inch configuration measures from that surface to the back of the TV. With a drop ceiling you attach to the structure above and pass the mast through, so the drop measures from the structure, and the distance from structure down to the tiles uses up part of it. Measure from the structure you will attach to.
Can I mount it to a drop ceiling, angled ceiling, or unistrut?
Never hang a TV from ceiling-tile grid. The mount anchors to structure: the flat plate for joists or concrete, the angled plate for sloped ceilings, or the unistrut-compatible plate for strut channel and commercial metal frame buildings.
Which TVs and monitors fit?
Any display up to 75 lb with a VESA pattern up to 200 x 200 mm. In practice most screens up to about 39 inches. However, there are many 42, 43 or even 50 inch screens that will also work.
Will it hold up to operatory cleaning?
Commercial-grade steel with a black powdercoat finish that wipes down with standard surface disinfectants.
